MAKING YOUR DECISION

Whether you work for a company overseas, study at a partner university, or work as a language assistant for the British Council, you will enhance your university experience gaining invaluable skills and boost your career opportunities.

At the University of Southampton, all language students must decide where they would like to spend their Residency Abroad by the November of their second year of study. Once you have made your decision you cannot change your mind and if you are unable to find a work placement by the given deadline (May of second year) or are unsuccessful in securing an assistantship, an ERASMUS placement will be arranged.

Non Modern Language students at the University of Southampton will be informed of the opportunities that are available to them during the first year and beginning of second year of university. Whilst all students at the university have the opportunity to attend one of the university wide partner institutions, some degree courses have a year or semester abroad at specific institutions built into the programme.
